THE HHI EDIT

Pink Has Always Been Our Color. This Year, It Means More.

For Henry Home Interiors, a familiar color has taken on an entirely new meaning.

Pink has always been part of Henry Home Interiors. It's woven into our showroom, our design aesthetic, and the beautiful spaces we love creating.

But this year, pink represents something much more personal.

In February 2026, Katelynn received a breast cancer diagnosis that would change the months ahead. What followed was a journey through chemotherapy, cold capping, surgery, and recovery, all while navigating life as a mother, businesswoman, and someone determined to maintain as much normalcy as possible.

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we're sharing a little more of Katelynn's story and the perspective she's gained along the way.

A Journey That Changed Everything

Katelynn's journey began with a routine mammogram after turning 40. Following additional imaging and a recommended six-month follow-up, she returned in February for an ultrasound that revealed significant changes.

A biopsy confirmed breast cancer.

The weeks that followed were filled with appointments, research, and decisions about treatment. By March, additional imaging showed that her tumor had grown, leading her medical team to recommend chemotherapy before surgery.

For Katelynn, one of the greatest priorities was preserving a sense of normalcy for her daughters, Clara and Vivian.

She wanted to continue working, coaching basketball, spending time with her girls, and enjoying the everyday moments that made life feel familiar.

That desire also influenced one of her most personal treatment decisions: cold capping.

More Than Hair

Cold capping, also known as scalp cooling, is a process used during certain chemotherapy treatments to help reduce hair loss.

When Katelynn learned that her original treatment center didn't offer the system she wanted, she made the decision to switch to Mercy, where Paxman scalp cooling was available.

"I wanted to keep my life as normal as possible. And if I could manage this, by keeping my appearance relatively the same by keeping my hair, then I was going to try."

For Katelynn, preserving her hair was about much more than appearance.

"The whole world didn't know I had cancer, unless I told them."

It allowed her to maintain a sense of privacy and continue experiencing ordinary moments with her daughters without cancer defining every interaction.

Finding Strength in the Everyday

Throughout chemotherapy, Katelynn focused on taking things one day at a time.

When she felt well enough, she attended Pilates, spent time outdoors, continued working, and planned activities with her daughters between treatments.

After completing chemotherapy in July, she underwent a mastectomy in September. Her surgical pathology results revealed a complete pathological response, meaning no residual cancer was found in the tissue examined.

It was an incredible milestone after months of uncertainty.

But when asked about her greatest accomplishments, Katelynn spoke about something beyond treatment.

Maintaining a peaceful, loving environment for her daughters. Continuing to show up for the people she cared about. And learning that asking for help can be a beautiful reminder of the community surrounding you.

Pink Means More, Beyond October

At Henry Home Interiors, we've always believed that beautiful spaces should make people feel comfortable, cared for, and at home.

Katelynn's journey has reminded us that the most meaningful parts of home aren't always the things that fill it.

They're the people who gather around us, the everyday moments we work to preserve, and the community that supports us through life's most difficult seasons.

As October comes to a close, we hope her story encourages more conversations about breast cancer awareness, advocating for your health, and the importance of showing up for one another.

Pink has always been our color. This year, it represents strength, hope, and a story that will stay with us long after October ends.

With love,

Henry Home Interiors
